Frequently Asked Questions
What is the 30C federal tax credit?+
The 30C Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit allows individuals and businesses to claim a credit of up to 30% (max $1,000 for individuals, $100,000 for businesses) of the cost of qualified EV charger equipment and installation. IronWatt provides documentation to support your tax filing.
How long does installation take?+
A typical residential Level 2 installation takes 2–4 hours. Commercial or complex installs may take 1–2 days. We handle all permit applications, which can add 1–3 weeks depending on your local jurisdiction.
Do I need a permit to install a Level 2 charger?+
Yes, in most California jurisdictions an electrical permit is required for Level 2 charger installations. IronWatt handles all permit applications as part of our installation service.
What vehicles are compatible with your chargers?+
Our Level 1 and Level 2 chargers use the SAE J1772 connector, compatible with all EVs and PHEVs sold in North America (Tesla requires the included adapter). Our DC Fast Chargers support CCS1 and CHAdeMO protocols.
